Ultrasound

Ultrasound -MSK allows recordings of the posture and musculoskeletal system. Ultrasound
works using ultrasound and is good for mapping superficial tissues. This includes muscles,
tendons, ligaments and bursae.

More about ultrasound

You can visit us with or without a referral. It is important that you have a clear question as to why you or your doctor think an ultrasound examination should be performed. Making an ultrasound can be helpful in making a diagnosis, but it is always part of a comprehensive physiotherapeutic diagnosis and certainly not always necessary. Not all structures in the body are visible on the ultrasound. A normal physiotherapy examination and interview is often sufficient to make a good diagnosis and treatment plan.

A physiotherapist or doctor may decide to use ultrasound for the following complaints:
– A muscle injury
– A tendon injury (for example a ruptured tendon or calcification)
– Bursitis
– Strain or tear of joint capsule or ligaments

If you would like to make an appointment, please call or e-mail our practice and indicate why you think an ultrasound is necessary. We will then make an appointment with one of the therapists who can perform an ultrasound examination. The appointment takes approximately 30-45 minutes. After an interview, the therapist will examine the joint using an ultrasound head with gel and provide a detailed report of his or her findings. The examination does not hurt and
is not harmful to your body.

The reimbursement for ultrasound is covered by physiotherapy reimbursement, i.e. via your supplementary insurance. If you do not have this, you can pay for the treatment immediately.
